

The leaves contain caffeic acid, rosmarinic acid, carnosol, luteolin, apigenin and apigenin-7-oelucoside. 25 phenolic compounds have been identified in thyme, most of which are flavonoids, hydroxycinnamic acid derivatives, hydroxybenzoic acid derivatives and phenolic diterpenes.In addition, the presence of alkaloids and coumarins has been demonstrated (Zairi, 2018).Thyme leaves contain flavonoids, saponins and steroids among others ( Hossain, 2013 ).

Its stem and branches are quadrangular in shape.
